VT women’s amateur golf championship results: Politano seizes crown

Mia Politano sank a putt for par on the 18th gap Wednesday to seal a breakthrough crown on the Vermont State Girls’s Golf Affiliation Amateur Championship.

The previous Otter Valley Union Excessive Faculty star and sophomore-to-be at Middlebury School closed with birdie-par-par to seal her first Amateur title, edging Dorset’s Julia Dapron, who completed runner-up for the third straight summer time.

The three-day match was held at Neshobe Golf Membership in Brandon.

Tied for fifth after Monday’s opening spherical, Politano rallied with back-to-back 74s to whole a 6-over 225 for her three rounds. Dapron (81-74-72) completed two photographs again of Politano.

Burlington’s Carson Richards, the Day 1 chief with a tournament-round low of 71, was third at 10-over. Williston’s Tiffany Maurycy (11-over), Champlain’s Andrew Brown (13-over), Ekwanok’s Reggie Parker (14-over), Ekwanok’s Becky Montgelas (15-over), Rutland’s Lindsay Cone (16-over), Copley’s Holly Reynolds (17-over) and Williston’s Jeanne Morrissey (21-over) rounded out the highest 10 for a discipline of practically 80 members.
