More Than 600 Women Will Double Dutch On The South Side This Weekend


PULLMAN — Lots of of ladies from throughout the US, ages 40 to almost 90, will go to the South Side this weekend to relive recess at a nationwide retreat for a double dutch membership whose roots are in Chicago.

The 40+ Double Dutch Membership will maintain its second Nationwide Play Date Saturday at Home of Hope, 752 E. 114th St. in Pullman. Registration for the occasion is full, with greater than 600 girls set to attend representing native membership chapters in 40 states.

The Nationwide Play Date might be just like the loosely structured native meetups, with stretching, a free play session, African hopscotch, a cooldown dance, a bunch image and a prayer circle. There may also be lunch and a raffle.

“It’s just an opportunity for our Facebook group members from all over the country to get together and connect with each other in person,” stated Pamela Robinson, co-founder and South Shore native. “We’ll play outside, jump double dutch, hopscotch, hula hoop and do all the things we used to do as little girls together.”

Robinson, co-founder Katrina Dyer Taylor, the membership’s model ambassadors and Chicago-area members will lead the play date, which almost quintupled in measurement from the inaugural occasion final 12 months.
