Michigan Mom Repeatedly Risks Life to Save Her Four Kids from House Fire: ‘An Absolute Hero’

A single mother from Michigan is being praised for her sheer bravery after she ran into her burning house to rescue her four kids. She suffered second and third-degree burns and is undergoing treatment.

They say that a mother’s love for her children is not only selfless but also endless. The mere thought of seeing her family in danger can take its toll on her, and she’d go to any length to protect and save her kids, even if it meant risking her life.

A woman from Michigan named Mikala Vish did the same for her four children after her house in Chelsea was engulfed in a tragic fire on Tuesday, October 26, 2021.

Vish reportedly ran into her burning home a couple of times to save her four kids, aged 12 years, 6 years, 4 years, and 9 months after it caught fire at around 1 a.m. on Tuesday. Appreciating her heroic act, Chelsea Area Fire Authority Capt. Scott Basar added:

“She is an absolute hero for how she saved all her children.”

Basar said that the firefighters were called to Vish’s family house located along Hadley Road, near Chelsea, in response to a report of a structure fire.

Soon afterward, the Dexter Fire Department was the first to reach the accident scene and saw the brave mom running errands to save her children from the fire. Chelsea firefighters Lt. Derek Klink also expressed his thoughts on the matter:

“Sometimes, people call us heroes. And in this instance, in no way were we the hero. Mikala deserves all the credit.”

In rescuing her children, Vish sustained severe second and third-degree burns on 60 percent of her body and is currently undergoing treatment at Michigan Medicine’s burn unity in Ann Arbor.

Her mother, Sutton, revealed that both Vish and her 6-year-old child would undergo skin graft surgeries. Vish might also remain hospitalized for eight months or more. Talking about her daughter’s brave act, Sutton shared:

“She is a woman of great faith and prayer, and I think that, along with her very spitfire personality, is what’s getting her through, and it gives me the courage to know this is going to work (sic).”

The reason why the fire broke out remains unknown, but the case is under investigation. Sadly enough, Vish’s family lost everything in the tragic fire. To help her and her kids, the wife of a Chelsea firefighter has set up a GoFundMe account.

The woman named Brynna said that she had started the fundraiser after contacting Vish’s mom. Brynna revealed that both Vish and her 6-year-old son have been the hardest hit and have a long road to recovery. She also added:

“I have never met the family, but after receiving approval from Mikala’s mother, we knew we wanted to help in any way possible.”

As of Monday, November 1, 2021, $221,698 has been raised from the $250,000 goal. The raised amount will be dispersed to Chelsea Fire Authority Local 1889, who will then provide it to Vish’s family.

Moreover, Bryanna has also urged people to play their part in providing some sort of relief to Vish and her four kids. The funds will help support her kids and cover her medical expenses. We wish a speedy recovery to Vish and her son.
