Brigitte Nielsen Said Marriage to Stallone Was ‘That Bad’ Though He ‘Begged’ Her to Marry Him

Brigitte Nielsen and Sylvester Stallone married after their first failed marriages. Many implored that the actress was a gold digger after Stallone left his wife for her, but she begged to tell the story from her side while speaking to media mogul Oprah Winfrey.

Brigitte Nielsen is a Danish model, actress, singer, and reality TV star, with an experience that spans decades. Amid her impressive resume, she is a confident, no-nonsense woman who is never shy to speak the truth.

Nielsen has had four failed marriages, one of which was a two-year marriage to the famous “Rocky” star, Sylvester Stallone. During their union, many found it hard to believe that they were a perfect match; they accused the younger actress of trying to elevate her career through the union.

When the relationship ended two years later, the media was quick to maintain that there was a probability the rumors were correct. However, after more than two decades, the onscreen star delved into some facts from her view.

She claimed that the “Rocky” alum had begged her to marry him, contrary to public opinion that she was in it for the money.

Although they dated for only a short time, and when he popped the question, she was not ready, still, she went ahead because he was Sylvester Stallone, a man every woman would dream of having.

Nielsen was born in 1963 in Denmark. She became interested in leaving her mark at age 16. The young lady left her family to pursue a modeling career, which she obtained successfully by working with top brands.

She later met a Danish musician whom she married and had a son with, but the then mother of one found acting intriguing, so she began seeking roles she got. By 1985, she had starred in a few films like “Rocky IV” featuring her future husband.

Nielsen has also created a singing career, appeared in a number of reality TV shows, and has maintained her fashion icon status with her never-aging sense of style and beauty.

Stallone left his first wife, Sasha Czack, for the 22-year-old promising actress and model Nielsen. There was a seventeen-year gap, but that did not stop their romance. They dated for a few months before proceeding to the altar.

From the outside, many did not approve of the relationship; they questioned Nielsen’s loyalty. Yet, the couple went ahead to tie the knot in 1985. They parted ways two years later and had no children during their time together.

Today, the former couple are in healthy relationships, but they carry memories from their past that has been shared in the media. Concerning their marriage, Nielsen said:

“The biggest misconception, while I was with Sylvester, was the fact that everybody thought I married him because of money. They didn’t understand that he begged me to marry. He begged me!”

After admitting that he begged her, she added that marrying him was a poor decision that did not end well. The model honestly mentioned that neither party was free of blame.

Nielsen said she might have caused the actor pain too. Following their divorce, she was like a sour thumb in the industry. Nobody wanted to work with her. She stated:

“When Ieft Sylvester, all doors closed on me. I was basically blacklisted.”

This did not deter her from building a successful career. With determination, dexterity, and her ability to speak four languages, she charted a pathway that helped uphold her essence. While she survived, she started to gain relevance through her works.

In 2010, after stumbling on a reality TV show titled “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew,” which featured Nielsen speaking about her struggles with alcoholism, the actor claimed that he realized that their marriage was insanity.

He watched the show with his wife, Jennifer Flavin, and she asked him what inspired his decision to marry his ex-wife.

Stallone admitted that when he tied the knot with Nielsen, it was an “out-of-body experience.” He further mentioned that he had a “temporary form of insanity” at the time.

The “Rocky” star was not slow to own up to his errors, but he proudly talked about being in a happy relationship with his current spouse. The actor praised her for being a wise decision-maker who is always right.

Following their years together, Stallone is confident she can make life-changing decisions and trusts her to do so by giving her the authority.

The duo shares three young daughters, and he has a good relationship with one of his sons from his first marriage ( the second son is dead).

While Stallone is enjoying his years as a veteran star with his adorable family, his ex-wife is having the time of her life with husband number five. Nielsen’s fifth marriage seems to be where she got it right.

The model has been married to Mattia Dessi for more than sixteen years, and they welcomed a baby through IVF in 2019. Altogether, she has five kids! Nielsen’s last child was born at age 54.

Many questioned her decision, but the actress boldly defended her choice, stating that if men could have kids at age 70 to 90, why should women not.

Having a child at that age was not without its fair share of baggage. Before achieving success, she experienced two failed IVF’s, and she remained persistent and optimistic.

The mother of five has inspired many women and shares that amid the bad reviews online, she also gets tons of emails and notes of admiration from a large group of women thanking her for giving them the courage to be older moms.

Nielsen and Stallone have chosen to focus on their families. They never had a child, so having a cordial relationship may not be necessary. However, these two talk when needed, but keep it professional.

While speaking to Larry King, the actress who co-starred with her ex-husband on “Creed II” confessed that they had buried the hatchet.

When it was time to act, they both worked as entertainers, more concerned with giving their best performances to a watchful audience than talking about old matters.
