Boy Doesn’t Ask Santa for His Own Gift, Requests a New Heart for His Mom Instead

A boy wrote a heartfelt letter to Santa, asking him for a healthy heart for his mom, who was on the waiting list for a heart transplant. His letter reached a social worker, who handed it over to firefighters, and they brought gifts for the boy.

Christmas is the perfect time to give and receive gifts and spread holiday cheer. Every year, kids prepare a long list of things they want for the holidays, hoping to wake up to presents stacked underneath their Christmas tree, courtesy of Santa.

While children can get demanding when asking Santa for gifts, a 12-year-old boy took a different path. Instead of asking Kris Kringle to bring him bounties, he made a special request for his beloved mother.

Arnulfo Guerra Jr., was no ordinary child. He had a heart of gold that felt deeply for his mother, who was unwell and had a serious heart condition. More than anything, he wished for a speedy recovery for his 46-year-old mom.

Unlike other kids of his age who would never refuse presents, Guerra’s only wish for Christmas was to see his mother healthy and happy.

Before Christmas 2016, the wise boy from Houston, Texas, decided to enlist Santa’s help in the matter. After much thought, he penned an emotional note to Saint Nick, asking him to help with his mom’s health.

After pouring his thoughts, feelings, and concerns into the letter, he posted it to Saint Nicholas. To his surprise, the letter reached a social worker, who was deeply touched after reading it.

In his letter to Santa, he stated that he believed in miracles and didn’t want any toys for himself.

The social worker sent the heartwarming letter to firefighters from Channelview, a Houston suburb. Like him, the firefighting squad was touched to the core and immediately decided to cheer the sweet boy.

Soon afterward, the firefighting crew reached Guerra’s house, but they weren’t alone. They came bearing gifts, hoping to brighten up the family’s Christmas. Katya Garza, a paramedic, told ABC News:

“For him to completely to be selfless and not ask for anything else other than his mom to be healthy for Christmas. You know, it really put us back (sic).”

Guerra’s Christmas presents included a bicycle and other goodies that really cheered him up. His mother was also reduced to tears and thanked the kind strangers.

The boy explained how he and his dad prayed all day for his mom’s health. In his letter to Santa, he shared that he believed in miracles and didn’t want any toys for himself. All he wanted was for his mother to be happy. The emotional letter further read:

“she’s sick, her diagnostic is transposition of the great (arteries) (T.G.A). I’m sad for her she’s 46 years and I only 12, next March 18 I will be 13 teen, we need her for many years more (sic).”

Indeed, Guerra’s sweet gesture for his mother inspired strangers and ultimately triggered a chain reaction of kindness that helped brighten up his holidays. If this incredible story touched your heart, share it with your family and friends.
